Tips for La Tour Restaurant

La tour, Vail. I thought this place was great. The food was simply divine. Service could have been more prompt, but it was very pleasant. I've eaten here three times, and always felt satisfied.

Overrated. It's French to a point, but the prix fixe menu is way overpriced for what it offers. Plus, why bother fixing the price when there are so many supplemental charges? The portions are rather small and the service is completely lacking. It took over an hour to have an early dinner when no one else was in the restaurant. The courses took forever to come out and were oddly timed. Although there are some "patio hour" specials, they seem to be incongruous with a French meal (mojitos?) and don't apply to entrees. I would have to say overall that the restaurant, its food, its service and its hype are all overrated. They need to seriously lower their prices and offer diners more service.

Avoid At All Costs. What a disappointment, this restaurant is terrible. Our reservation was for 6:15pm, when we arrived we were not greeted nor was our table ready (there was no one sitting at our table, or in the restaurant for that matter), we were seated 10 minutes later.

The waitress was RUDE, she never introduced her self, was surly did not appear to know the menu, when asked about a specific dish she advised me the potatoes were round!!!! Nor did it appear she cared, a smile would have been nice.

The food is so over priced, even for Vail, small portions that leave you still hungry, and dry flavorless beef.

Great food and service at La Tour in Vail. Outstanding food and service.. A new young chef from Louisiana bring very exciting specials and flavors. to the restaurant... Our party of 6 had the Chef's teasting and was served a 6 course meal, one of the best we ever had... ALL outstandingly presented and served.. It's great to see that La Tour is bringing great new foods, flavors and talent to Vail..

Poor service, plain food, high prices.. If you enjoy fine food and great service, you'll hate La Tour. If you are expecting fine french cuisine you'll also be dissappointed. The ultimate let down comes when the check arrives and you realize that you've been robbed of both your time and money.

This place is the BEST!. La Tour is a MUST visit every time we go to Vail. We go so often they know us by name, but it seems they give everyone the same level of service. We even have our favorite little romantic table that we prefer.

Each waiter knows so much about what's being served, how the chef is prepairing it, and what wine to serve with it. I wish life were always this easy (and good) as when we go to La Tour. My actually dreams about the escargot and Lamb, but I like trying the "new" items each time we go. We've even taken a group of 15 and they sat us in this private little alcove that was perfect, and the service/food didn't skip a beat.

I don't get it.... This place is REALLY bad. I'm sorry if I offend but people who praise it must not know very much about food. It has the feal of a place that was a really big deal back in the '70's when French Food in the US was a novelty.

The service is just silly. It is in the style of "we are being oh so fancy that we can't just say 'are you finished' we must say elaborate phrases like 'are you finished enjoying that'".

Be warned, people with experience dining at serious dining establishments with talented chefs will be VERY disappointed.

La Tour Restaurant. Our experience at La Tour was like none other. The Chef created for us a special 7 course tasting menu. Each course was paired with unique wine. Our favorite was the Tokaji or 5 basket Hungarian sweet wine with our foie gras. The shrimp salad and the Dover sole were the hits of the table. Get the Blueberry brown-butter cake with lemon custard sauce for dessert. The waiter was friendly and informative. I would go back without hesitation.
